Description

INTRODUCTION

Materials (materials) construction of mechanical equipment consists of several groups, among others, namely:

1. Material-based ferrous metals:

                a.  Cast iron (cast iron): white cast iron, gray cast iron, etc..

                b.  Steel : low carbon steel, high carbon steel, alloy steel, etc.

2.  Material non-ferrous metals

                a.  Aluminium and its alloys

                b.  Copper and its alloys,

3.  Polymer-based materials

Each type of material has physical and mechanical properties are very different, so it was very influential in determining the type of construction material suitable mechanical equipment with the equipment.

In the field of material, there are several agencies that make the standard type of material that comes with physical and mechanical properties. Some agencies include: ASTM, JIS, DIN, BS, etc.. Thus materilal selected mechanical equipment can be referred to the satandard-standard.

This short course addresses a wide range of load conditions or arising in mechanical equipment which occurs when the operation can be optimized so that the selection of the mechanical construction material. This course is indispensable for the planners of engineering (particularly mechanical), machine maintenance technicians, and operators. By following this course it is known mechanical physical properties of materials so that the optimization of mechanical equipment design, operation and maintenance of the machine can be further improved.
