SELF-CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS & MULTI GAS DETECTOR

OBJECTIVES

Following the completion of this training, the participant will be able to use a self-contained breathing apparatus or system in a safe and responsible manner, verify its functionality and will be familiar with the possibilities and limitations during use.

After completing the training, the participant will have general knowledge on the behaviour of gases, vapours, fire, smoke and the function of the corresponding detection systems. Additionally, on the basis of this general knowledge, he/she will be able to make a selection in regard to which detection systems are required and suitable. Likewise, the participant will have knowledge of the general standards and regulations in regard to the application of this detection equipment.

PARTICIPANTS

1.       This training is intended for personnel that work in environments in which the use of independent breathing air is necessary.
2.       Persons responsible for sales, procurement, engineering, installation and maintenance of stationary fire and gas detection systems.

1.          Theory:

•           Gas hazards
•           Laws and regulations
•           Respiratory physiology
•           Hazards of dangerous atmospheres
•           Working hours calculation
•           Design and types of respiratory protection
•           Requirements for respiratory protection
•           Limitations of respiratory protection
•           Operation and use of breathing air equipment
•           Operation and use of breathing airline systems

2.          Theory:

•           International regulations and standards in regard to detection systems
•           General physical properties of gases, vapours, smoke, fire and heat
•           General function and basic principles of the detection of explosion hazards, toxicity

 and oxygen

•           General function and basic principles of the flame, smoke and heat detection
